Anaconda in the Peruvian Amazon
We did an 8 hour hike through the mud in the Amazon in Peru and got to see beautiful wildlife. Then we jumped into an old wooden canoe and paddled out onto a small lake. We then got to see one of the most amazing sights and one I will always remember – seeing an anaconda in the wild.
Anacondas are a member of the boa family and are only found in South America., but predominately in the Amazon and Orinoco river basins. They are non-venomous constrictors and kill their prey by coiling their bodies around it and squeezing it until it asphyxiates.
It is vital that you do not disturb wildlife in their natural environment. These photographs were taken with a telephoto lens.
