The Versatile Blogger Award Nomination

The Versatile Blogger Award is a way of honouring other bloggers who bring something special to your life whether every day or now and then.

A big thank you to Kaine at The Soaring Moa for nominating me!  Kaine is a Kiwi (close to home for me being across the ditch in Australia) and I love reading his blog posts – he has a great dry sense of humour and he too might cringe if a child sits next to him on a long haul flight!

So what are the rules of the Versatile Blogger Award.

  • Be a good person and publicly thank the person who nominated you, linking to their blog so everyone else can see how great they are.
  • Select 5 – 10 nominees you think are deserving of this award and notify them via social media so they can feel good about themselves too.
  • Tell all of these people 7 random things about yourself, and ask your nominees to do the same.  It’s great to learn about other people.

So that being said, again a big thanks to Kaine for nominating me.

7 Random Things About Myself

1 – I’m mother to two poodles

My husband, Darren, and I don’t have 2 legged children.  Our two miniature poodles, Jazz and Indy are our children.  Darren sometimes calls me a “crazy dog lady” but hey that’s they way I am!

2 – I could drive when I was 12

I grew up on farms and was a huge tom boy, so I spent a lot of time with my dad.  He taught me to drive trucks and tractors when I was 12 years old.  This made life so much easier when I went to get my drivers licence!

3 – I have one tattoo

It’s on my shoulder blade.  I wanted to get a tattoo to celebrate being so fortunate to have my last two poodles, Jessica and Jemma in my life.  They say that the day you get your first dog, your life changes for the better forever.  That day was the day Jessica came into my life.  I got Jessica as a puppy before I met Darren.  Jemma came later.  She had been badly mistreated so it took us a long time to nurse her back to health.  We had Jessica for almost 17 years and Jemma for 10 years.

4 – I wanted to lose weight and get fit, so I booked us on a trip to Peru to hike the Inca Trail!

Yep.  A bit of a drastic measure but we have never looked back and I am fitter and healthier than I’ve ever been!  We had travelled a lot before heading to Peru but we are now much more likely to go hiking or do more “out of the way” destinations than ever before.  I still keep fit by hitting the gym 5 days a week and being active in our general life.

Inca Trail

Yes that is me being a “dead woman” at the top of Dead Woman’s Pass on day 2 of the Inca Trail

5 – Give me sci-fi over chick flicks any day

I love sci-fi movies and am a bit of a ‘geek’ at heart (I would love to get over to San Diego for Comic-Con).  I just can’t get into chick flicks for some reason.

6 – My favourite travel experiences

We have had so many amazing travel experiences to date.  Three of my favourite sites include Glacier Bay in Alaska, the Pyramids and Sphinx in Egypt and seeing Machu Picchu for the first time after hiking the Inca Trail for three days.  Three of my favourite experiences include seeing a brown bear and her two cubs in the Alaska wilderness, seeing an anaconda in the Peruvian Amazon and seeing Orca’s off Victoria, Canada.

7 – I got to fly first class for the first time this year

Thanks to Qantas frequent flyer points, we used points to fly business class from Brisbane to Dubai and first class from Dubai to Paris.  We were front row of first class on Emirates A380 (Qantas and Emirates code share).  There were only three people (including Darren and myself) in first class on the flight.  It was so hard to fly economy home (we paid for that flight!).

Other Amazing Travel Blogs

Again a special thank you to Kaine for the nomination.

The people I’m nominating for their blogs are people who I follow because I really enjoy following their travel journey.

If you haven’t seen Kaine’s or my nominated blogs, please pop over and say hello.
